Logano wins pole at Pocono: #20-Joey Logano won the pole for the Pocono 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway with a speed of 179.598mph, a new track record, for his 1st pole of 2012 and 4th career pole. #99-Edwards was 2nd fastest followed by #27-Menard, #18-Busch, #11-Hamlin, #78-Smith, #88-Earnhardt, Jr., #9-Ambrose, #5-Kahne, & #1-McMurray. The top 36 drivers broke the old track record.
The go-or-go homers who made the race (8): #19-Bliss, #98-McDowell, #49-Yeley, #87-Nemechek, #26-Wise, #23-Riggs, #74-Compton, #33-Leicht.
The go-or-go homers who failed to qualify for the race (1): #30-Stremme.

Robin Pemberton, NASCAR’s vice president of competition, doesn’t anticipate the need for restrictor plates this weekend. On Thursday, drivers flirted with a total lap speed of 180 mph and cars topped 212 mph entering Turn 1 at Pocono Raceway during the second day of testing.
